Alfredo and Angela came from Venezuela, where he worked as a music producer and she was a kindergarten teacher and dancer. When the situation started to get difficult there, they decided to leave and restart their lives in Brazil, where they have been for 7 years. They crossed the border, arrived in Manaus and were welcomed in the early years by a church.
The situation in Manaus, however, was not favorable and they couldn’t find stable jobs, so they started a small leather goods business.
They managed to rent a small house that was the first home for their two daughters who were born in Brazil. This, however, was far from the life that they had dreamed of building when they decided to leave their country for a better future. The sale of items varied greatly and often the amount they made was not enough to pay the bills at the end of the month. Unable to meet the family’s needs, they decided to come to São Paulo in search of more financial stability. In their first week in São Paulo, Alfredo quickly found a job in the music field and both are taking training courses offered free of charge by Fundação Florestan Fernandes in Diadema. Angela still dreams of restarting a business with leather goods and they are working hard to get what they need and start over here.
Alfredo and Angela, we are rooting for you!
